지난 26일 열렸던 연천 세계밀리터리룩 페스티벌이 어느새 6회째를 맞았다. 연천은 군사도시로 알려져 있고 정예강군들이 연천을 중심으로 포진 되어 있다. 오늘의 행사는 개회식과 연천과 동두천의 민, 관과 군인들과의 교류를 동해서 서로 이해의 폭을 넓히고 안보의식을 고취하고 노래와 춤의 축제의 마당으로 하루를 마감했다. 

백호현 대회장은 축사를 통해 대한민국을 지키기 위해 국군용사들과 이역만리를 날아서 자유를 위해 자신을 내던졌던 유엔군의 희생과 헌신을 잊지 않고 늘 기억한다고 말했다. 미래의 주역인 청소년들에게 안보관을 확립하고 평화통일의 중요성과 군에 대한 이미지를 향상시키고 민, 관, 군의 소통의 장으로 활용하며 밀리터리 문화 확산에 기여하고자 함이라고 말했다. 

내외빈 인사들의 면면은 연천과 동두천의 기관장들과 정치인들과 각급 군부대 부대장들과 시민 사회 단체장들이 주류를 이루었다. 김성원 연천, 동두천 국회의원, 남병근 민주당 지역위원장, 김덕현 연천군수, 박형덕 동두천시장, 심상금 연천군의회 의장, 김승호 동두천시 의회 의장, 로뮬로 필리핀 총영사, 엔리케토 필리핀 국방무관, 김흥준 5사단장, 박춘식 28사단장, 석대완 작전부사단장, 류재수 25사단 71여단장, 한국성 경기북부 보훈지청장 등이 있고 연천군의회 의원, 동두천 시의회 의원, 연천, 동두천의 참전용사들, 연천군의 농협, 축협 지부장과 여성단체 임원들, 각급 기관장들이 자리를 같이 했다. 무엇보다도 연천과 동두천 시민들이 주류를 이루었던 것이 이 행사를 빛나게 하였다. 

전시 체험관에는 기동장비, 화력장비, 통신장비들을 전시하고 원하는 학생 시민들이 직접 탑승해서 모의체험을 하고 함께 사진도 찍고 하면서 병사들과 즐거운 시간을 가졌다. 군복작용과 전시식량 체험도 해보고 밀리터리메니아 동호회에서 나와 외국군복 전시. 각 사단 마크전시도 보았고 화살고지 전투에서 유품과 유물을 전시하였다. 연천 소방서에서는 소화기 사용법과 심폐소생술 체험도 보람 있었고 신흥고에서 나와서 드론 시범도 했다. 행사장 주변에는 다양한 메뉴의 푸드트럭이 있어 입을 즐겁게 해주기도 했다.

2부의 행사는 1군단에서 나온 태권도 시범단의 늠름한 모습과 한지붕 국악예술단의 공연과 루나이리스의 초등부 댄싱시범이 았었다. 5사단 군악대의 밴드공연과 장병공연으로는 27여단의과 예하의 2대대의 공연과 필리핀 바넬리카의 아름다운 강산도 멋졌다. 시민들과 군악대와 군 중장단의 어우러지는 화합의 무대도 의미가 있었던 하루였다. 

연천 세계밀리터리룩 페스티벌은 동두천연천신문사의 백호연 대표가 연천의 군사도시를 알리기 위해 오랫동안 준비해온 문화축제이다. 필자는 6회를 하는 동안 3번을 참여하게 되었는데 갈수록 조금씩 발전이 있는 것 같아서 다행스럽다. 군과 민간이 서로 신뢰하고 힘을 합쳐서 민,관의 페스티벌로 만든 것에 모두가 만족을 하는 것 같아서 보기 좋았다. 민과 군의 문화의 축제가 발전을 거듭하여 새로운 밀리터리 문화로 자리 잡기를 바란다.
